Vela Reference Mk II

The smallest signal deserves the most deliberate path.

Vela Reference Mk II is our hand-built exploration of a reference phono stage: a point-to-point, single-ended design with an all-tube active signal path, passive RIAA equalization, and integrated Hashimoto HM-3 step-up transformers for moving-coil cartridges.

Its architecture is intentionally direct. The transformers can be bypassed or selected in high/low modes, allowing different cartridge interfaces to feed the same tube/passive-RIAA core. The walnut enclosure, black metal top plate and exposed valves and magnetics make the construction part of the instrument — visible, serviceable and close to the listening process.

Mk II represents the purist Vela path: tactile, entirely analogue, and shaped by the relationship between cartridge, transformer, tube circuit and record.
